She’s really starting to walk now. See for yourself!

We went to Richmond last weekend and saw some friends and family. It was our nephew, Jonah’s, 10th birthday and so we got together and made up our missed celebrations from Christmas too. For the record since December 19th the following were celebrated: Cori’s birthday, our anniversary, Christmas, Reese’s birthday, Joshua’s birthday, Grandpa’s birthday, and Jonah’s birthday. And the scary thing is that I think I forgot someone! Anyway, we had plenty to celebrate. Brian, Reese, and I also got together with our friends in Richmond and got a picture with the two 13 month old babies.

And here are some cute ones of just the little girl.

Well, I have my camera and charger, but now the website is cranky. I’ll do my best to post photos without the automatic tool for it. (I informed my web-designing husband of this problem, and he gave me a blank stare.)

I’ve been trying to get Reese to pat her belly when she’s hungry (or at least when I pat my belly and say “Hungry Monkey!” Today she did it. So cute!

Here are a few new clips of our new toddler!

I’m sorry I’m still not posting pictures. The battery in my camera is dead, and I lost the charger. Fear not! Another charger is winging its way (or rolling its way) here as we speak, so I promise to post many cute pictures and videos soon. In the mean time I thought I would give you a little update about what Reese is doing.

While still not walking around, she takes more and more steps. While I was eating lunch today, she cruised herself around the table a few times, and she’s not shy at all about taking three or four steps between two pieces of furniture. Everyone who sees her says “She’ll be walking any day now!” and I just nod and smile. People have been saying that for over a month now.

Brian and I took her to a little playground on Saturday. Reese has always been brave - climbing up stairs, allowing me to send her down the slide on her belly with her feet first. Saturday reached whole new heights of bravery, though. After climbing up nearly vertical stairs to the top of a nine foot slide, she saw me and the bottom and promptly got down on her belly and slid down face first! After that, we let her climb up again and she did it a few more times. Brave girl!

She talks to herself all the time now, and her new favorite sound is a very loose “b” with some lip buzzing. Actually, when we were over at my friend Stephanie’s house, Stephanie kept turning to me and asking “did she just say _________?” She was repeating a lot of what I would say in her own way, including “quesadilla” “wow” and “oopps.” It’s fun to hear her say things in her little voice.

So, hopefully the next time I post, it will be with pictures!

We left for Albuquerque on Reese’s birthday, and by then she was not so cranky, though she continued to have a stuffy nose for a few days. She was wonderful on the plane to NM. She played and slept both legs. She also loved the airports. She saw so many people, and she was able to play on the floor in some quiet gate areas. While on the plane, she loved looking out the window.

While we were in Albuquerque, we were able to celebrate her birthday. Unfortunately, my camera’s battery was dead, so I will need to wait for my brother’s girlfriend to send pictures to me. I will post some pictures of her on her birthday, even though there were no presents or cake that day:

Apparently at one year, you start reading philosophy.

And for comparison are pictures of Reese alone and with her friend Aiden (www.babykarrer.blogspot.com):
